Reality- FACTORY
Food comes from enormous assembly lines.
Dangerous Food System.
What we are allowed to say and know, not just what we are eating.
Companies don’t want farmers talking; they don’t want this story told.
Fast Food to All Food

No idea where food comes from.
Idea of the world deliberately hidden from us.
Industrial food system began with fast food - 1930’s Drive in McDonalds.
Trained each worker to do one thing- low wage, easily replaced, inexpensive food, tasted good.
Many unintended consequences.
McDonalds – changed how round beef is produced.
Big chains control food system
You are now eating meat being produced by this system.
Only 3 or 4 companies actually controlling the meat. Tyson- biggest meat company in the world.
We’re not producing chickens, we’re producing food. Must be the same size.
Produce a lot of food on a small amount of land, with a certain amount of money.
Contract with Tyson. Science- they got it figured out. More money in your pocket.
If you can grow a chicken in days, why would you take months?
“It would be nice to let y’all in, but I just can’t do that.”
It’s not right what’s going on. Something has to be said.It’s not right anymore.
Old style house with open windows. “This isn’t farming this is just mass production.”
A few steps, and then the chickens flop down. She throws dead chickens out.
Antibiotics are put in chickens.
Dark houses, chickens are less likely to fight.
Undocumented workers.
Companies aren’t going to complain. Doesn’t matter if chickens get sick, they all go to the plant for processing.
Grower has no choice, you have to do it or you’re threatened to lose contract.
“To have no say in your business, it’s degrading. It’s like being a slave to your company.”

Industrial food world created a disease that kills us.

13 slaughter houses to process the majority of beef processed in the U.S.
Odds increase terribly that one of those animals are carrying ecoli
Moving a cow and flipping him over with a forklift
Kevin- little boy who died of Ecoli.
All he wanted was water. He couldn’t even have that. Perfectly healthy to Dead in 12 days.
Meat Recall. Didn’t recall meat until 16 days after he died.

Lost all integrity and accountability in the food system.
If we treat animals that way, why aren’t we treating humans that way?
